Buddha Shakyamuni with
Two Disciples

Buddha Shakyamuni is the ‘historical’ Buddha who lived in India 2,600 years ago and is the founder of what is today known as ‘Buddhism’. Here he is depicted in his enlightened nirmanakaya form seated on lotus, sun and moon atop a throne. Standing in front are two of his main disciples, Shariputra on his right and Maudgalyana on his left.
